The Queensland Reds have signed lock Cadeyrn Neville as a replacement for Harlequins-bound James Horwill.

Neville, who has made 44 appearances in Super Rugby for the Melbourne Rebels, will link up with his new team ahead of the 2016 season.

The 26-year-old is yet to force his way into the Australia team but he has been called up to several training squads and Reds coach Richard Graham believes he can flourish in Brisbane.

"I have had my eye on Cadeyrn for a number of seasons back as far as 2011 when he was reasonably new to his rugby career,” said Graham.

"At a touch over two metres tall and 120kg, he is a big man. We’ve seen over the past few seasons that a lot of tight-five forwards have been poached by overseas clubs, however Cadeyrn has aspirations here in Australia and he believes the best environment for him to achieve those is here at the Reds.

"James has been a significant part of the Reds programme since 2006, but at some stage his career at Ballymore was going to end.

"Due to his transparency and willingness to work with the Reds, it provided us with time to go about our recruitment. This has allowed us to search and attract a very good replacement in Cadeyrn."
