Former All Black Carlos Spencer to join Hurricanes coaching staff

Former All Blacks fly-half Carlos Spencer will join the Hurricanes as assistant coach next year.
Spencer won 35 Test caps for New Zealand and made his name as a player at the Blues, who play the Hurricanes on Friday, live on Sky Sports Action.
Spencer, 42, is currently assistant coach at Munakata Sanix Blues in Japan and has previously held coaching roles with the Lions, Sharks and Kings in South Africa.
He will work at the Hurricanes under John Plumtree, who is currently assistant coach but will take over the top job next year when Chris Boyd departs for Northampton Saints.
"I've worked with Carlos in South Africa when I was at the Sharks and I was impressed with him from what I saw then," said Plumtree.
"He has carried on that good work, not only in South Africa but in Japan, and I really look forward to working with him again.
"Everyone that I've spoken to about Carlos and the way he operates has impressed me and he is really positive about joining the group and the club."

Spencer added: "We are all moving in the same direction from the conversations I've had with Plum and I'm sure we will continue to reach and carry on the high standards the Hurricanes club demands."
The Hurricanes also confirmed forwards coach Richard Watt and scrum coach Dan Cron have re-signed for the 2019 season.
