England's Sam Burgess warned over dangerous high tackle against Australia

England centre Sam Burgess has been warned by the citing commissioner for a dangerous high tackle in the 33-13 defeat to Australia at Twickenham on Saturday.
The incident occurred in the 71st minute of the Pool A game when Burgess tackled Wallabies dummy runner Michael Hooper round the neck at the same time as Owen Farrell took out Matt Giteau.
Farrell received a yellow card for his challenge and spent the remainder of the game in the sin-bin as England's World Cup hopes were ended by the loss.
Burgess has now received a warning for his actions from Steve Hinds, the independent citing commissioner, and will be free to play in England's final game against Uruguay in Manchester on Saturday, if he is selected.
A statement from World Rugby read: "Sam Burgess (England) has received a Citing Commissioner Warning from independent Citing Commissioner Steve Hinds (New Zealand) for a breach of Law 10.4(e) (dangerous high tackle) in the 71st minute of the Rugby World Cup 2015 Pool A match between England and Australia at Twickenham on Saturday, 3 October.
"Under the Rugby World Cup 2015 disciplinary programme, a Citing Commissioner Warning equates to a yellow card for the purposes of sanction.
"A combination of three yellow cards or Citing Commissioner Warnings accumulated during the tournament will result in a hearing. Burgess is therefore free to play in England's final Pool A match against Uruguay."
