Leicester centre developing with the Saxons
World Cup hopeful Billy Twelvetrees believes his time with the England Saxons has helped make him a better player.
The 22-year-old centre initially joined Leicester's academy from neighbours Leicester Lions before enjoying a year-long stint with Bedford Blues.
Twelvetrees returned to Welford Road and injuries meant his opportunities were limited - although he was man-of-the-match in his debut, answering a call to action 10 minutes before kick-off of the 32-32 draw with Ospreys in the 2009-10 Heineken Cup.
However it is last season Twelvetrees, who can also play at 10, really made his mark, with 144 points from 18 appearances - earning him call-ups to the Saxons set-up.
He first appeared for England's second string in the Six Nations at the start of the year, before earning a place in the Churchill Cup squad.
Develop
And his form in the tournament so far has seen Twelvetrees mentioned as an outsider for the World Cup training squad, which is announced on Monday.
Twelvetrees, though, has just been pleased to have improved his game on the international stage.
Twelvetrees, who will start for the Saxons in the Churchill Cup final against Canada at Sixways on Saturday, told the official Leicester site: "You develop all of the time.
"There is not one point in your career where you are established. You are always learning new stuff.
"You are never the finished article and coming away with the Saxons has highlighted a few things to do and that's been good."
