The uncapped second row will lead the England side coached by Joe Lydon and Jon Callard, with Exeter Chiefs fly-half Henry Slade as vice-captain in the traditional clash.

England's starting line-up boasts three fully-capped internationals and eight who have represented the Saxons.

Bath's six-cap centre Jonathan Joseph and Gloucester's four-cap wing Charlie Sharples are England's most experienced operators, with scrum-half Joe Simpson also boasting one cap.

Currently serving Army soldier and Bath wing Semesa Rokoduguni will add Fijian flair to England's ranks.

Lydon is excited to get a chance to coach the players who could make up into England's future senior internationals.

He said: "This England squad is full of talent and will make for an entertaining match against a strong Barbarians side with more than 700 caps between them.

"We see this match as an important development opportunity for the players and many of them gained valuable experience working with the senior squad and coaches over the last week.

"We have seen 10 players involved in these Barbarians fixtures over the last two years who have gone on to win caps for England."

England XV: E Daly (Wasps), S Rokoduguni (Bath), J Joseph (Bath), S Hill (Exeter), C Sharples (Gloucester), H Slade (Exeter), J Simpson (Wasps), R Harrison (Sale), R Buchanan (Harlequins), K Sinkler (Harlequins), M Paterson (Sale), G Kitchener (Leicester, capt), J Gibson (Leicester), L Wallace (Harlequins), D Ewers (Exeter).

Replacements: T Taylor (Sale), F Balmain (Leicester), W Collier (Harlequins), C Matthews (Harlequins), J Gaskell (Sale), D Robson (Gloucester), O Devoto (Bath), R Miller (Sale).
