Scotland will renew their rivalry with World Cup foes Japan after agreeing to travel for a two-Test series next summer.
After Japan's historic World Cup win over South Africa, Vern Cotter's men emphatically defeated the Asian champions 45-10 to help ensure their progress to the last eight.
The matches, which will be the Scots' first two official Tests in Japan, will take place over the weekends of June 18 and 25, with precise dates, kick-off times and venues to be confirmed.
Scotland head coach Vern Cotter is looking forward to testing his team against a country where rugby is going from strength to strength following the win over the Springboks.
"We're pleased to confirm our 2016 summer tour will take us to Japan, where our players will enjoy a stern assessment from one of the most improved teams in the world," Cotter said.
With the next World Cup due to be played in Japan in 2019, the country are doing all they can to ensure they give a strong account of themselves as the host nation.
That includes entering a new team, the Sunwolves, in next season's Super Rugby competition and Cotter has been impressed with the strides Japan are making.
Cotter said: "Japan are forging a very strong rugby culture and will be boosted by the inclusion of a Japanese franchise in Super Rugby for the first time that year, all of which will combine to create a very testing environment for our touring group of players."
