Vern Cotter is to join Top 14 side Montepellier as head coach when his Scotland deal is up at the end of the season.
The New Zealander will replace Jake White after agreeing a return to France, where he previously coached Clermont Auvergne between 2006 and 2014 and won the title in 2010.
Scotland have already announced that Gregor Townsend will succeed Cotter as coach of the national side.
"The arrival of Vern Cotter for the 2017/2018 season, should help to write a new chapter in the history of Montpellier," a club statement read.
Scotland face Australia, Argentina and Georgia in November, followed by a Six Nations campaign that features home games against Ireland, Wales and Italy.
Cotter, who has been in charge since leaving Clermont Auvergne, has won just two of his 10 Six Nations fixtures to date.
Montpellier, meanwhile, are third in the Top 14 ahead of facing former European champions Toulon this weekend.
