Nations Championship - Wales 28-21 Japan: Josh Adams scores twice as Steve Tandy's side outlast visitors despite nervy finish

Josh Adams scored twice as Wales survived a nervy finish to outlast Japan 28-21 at the Principality Stadium.

The hosts had breathed a sigh of relief when Adams strode over for his second try of the match late in the second-half.

But Eddie Jones' resilient Japan side hit back with five minutes to go through Kenta Fukuda, whose score set up a thrilling end to the match.

Wales started brighter with Archie Griffin scoring inside three minutes, but Japan responded eight minutes later with Ben Gunter striding over.

Both teams traded tries again, with Player of the Match, Louis Rees-Zammit, ending his eight-match drought without a try in international rugby, before Warner Dearns crashed over for Japan.

A cagey second-half followed and there was almost a sigh of relief from the Welsh fans when Adams effectively sealed the victory, winning a penalty for his side as the clock ticked into the red.

What's next?

For Wales, they take on New Zealand on Saturday November 14, at the Principality Stadium in Cardiff in their second game of the Northern Series (2.10pm kick-off).

Japan, meanwhile, head to the Allianz Stadium to face England, also on Saturday November 14 (4.40pm kick-off).
