Coach Graham Henry has rated the All Black's performance as 70 percent following Saturday's victory over South Africa.
Still room for improvement says All Black coach
New Zealand coach Graham Henry has rated his side's performance as 70 percent following their 40-7 demolition of an under-strength South Africa.
The All Blacks scored six tries to one in the opening match of their Tri-Nations title defence against the Springboks in Wellington on Saturday.
The hosts were markedly improved on last week's stuttering display against Fiji in Dundein last week and produced a far more clinical performance at Westpac Stadium.
Henry said the biggest improvement had come in the forwards, who dominated their South African counterparts in all departments.
"The line-out was very fluent tonight," he said. "And obviously the boys got scrum dominance as the game went on and we played well at the breakdown.
Brilliant
"They were the areas last week where we were not as effective as we should have been."
The Springboks also struggled to cope with the speed and width of the All Blacks back line, which reaped two tries apiece for with wingers Cory Jane and Zac Guildford.
Henry was particularly impressed by a brilliant international comeback by Jane who had been omitted from New Zealand's initial Tri-Nations squad after a poor Super 15 season.
Jane pressed his case for inclusion in Henry's World Cup squad with a sensational 33rd-minute try plus another five minutes into the second half.
And the All Black coach admitted that the 28-year-old had given him a selection headache in a crowded contest for outside backs places.
Disappointed
"It's going to be difficult when it comes to that final World Cup selection, particularly out wide," he added.
"Cory Jane was outstanding tonight so he's put his hand up. Zac Guildford put his hand up again so that wing and fullback position is really close."
Captain Richie McCaw said the All Blacks still had room for improvement and needed to keep their focus to iron out the errors from their game.
"It was not a complete performance, he said. "We've still got to make sure we don't think we are good enough yet because at times we got things wrong and turned the ball over."
Despite missing 21 font-line players through injury Springbok skipper John Smit said his side remained disappointed with their performance,
"We'll try to pull as many positives as we can out of it. But at the end of the day it's disappointing," he said."
