Australian second-row Mark Chisholm joins Munster

Munster Rugby have signed Australian second-row Mark Chisholm on a two-year contract.

The Bayonne lock will join the province subject to being granted a valid work permit and obtaining medical and fitness clearance.

Chisholm, 33, who played 102 times for Super Rugby side Brumbies, scored six tries in 58 appearances for Australia between 2004 and 2010. 

In 2011 he made the move to Top 14 side Bayonne and made 89 appearances for the French outfit, captaining the side for three seasons.

Speaking on his club's latest acquisition, Munster Rugby chief executive Garrett Fitzgerald said: "We are delighted to have secured the services of Mark.

"His skills as a player have been showcased for many seasons across a number of different environments at both club and international level. 
 
"Known for his athleticism and physicality, he will be a huge addition to the side with his abilities as a leader also proven.  We look forward to the talent and wealth of experience Mark will bring to the province.”
