Cardiff Blues head coach Danny Wilson will leave the club at the end of the season.

The former Scarlets and Newport Dragons boss joined the Blues two years ago, but has decided to part ways with the Welsh region at the end of the current campaign.

The Blues have lost three of their four PRO14 fixtures so far to leave them bottom of Conference A but won their last game against Connacht.

"It is disappointing that Danny has decided not to take up the offer of a new contract and will not be part of our strategy moving forward," said Blues chief executive Richard Holland.

"We will begin the process of finding a successor immediately, and we will consult key individuals to ensure we make the right appointment for Cardiff Blues."

Wilson's decision to leave the Welsh capital will intensify speculation linking him with a move to the Aviva Premiership, but he remains focused on his role in Cardiff.

Wilson said: "I will be fully committed to Cardiff Blues for the remainder of my time here and am now solely focused on this weekend's match with Munster.
