Technical coach satisfied after win over Welsh rivals

Ospreys technical coach Filo Tiatia cut a satisfied figure after his watching his side crush Cardiff Blues 29-7 in their LV= Cup clash on Saturday evening. Cardiff made the early running with a try from centre Gavin Evans with barely two minutes on the clock, but the Ospreys responded well and ultimately emerged as deserved winners after a penalty try and scores from Morgan Allen and Hanno Dirksen and a composed kicking display from Matthew Morgan. "It was a good exercise," said Tiatia. "We didn't really execute, which was a bit disappointing, but we scored three good tries. "And when we were down to 13 men, they showed a lot of character. A lot of young kids played tonight and I'm really proud of them. "I think it's a great competition in terms of development. There were a few players here tonight we hadn't seen much of and they showed potential. "It's also a great opportunity for young coaches like myself."

Baber taking positives

Cardiff Blues backs coach Gareth Baber, who shared responsibilities with his forwards counterpart Justin Burnell, was also glad of the chance to work with his region's young talent. "For the future of the Cardiff Blues, we need these games to give the youngsters experience," he said. "It's big respect to our development system that these players are coming through. It bodes well for the future." Baber was particularly pleased with wing Harry Robinson, at 17 years and nine months the youngest player ever to appear for the Blues. "He's exciting," said the former scrum-half. "He reminds me in many ways of Leigh Halfpenny, though I wouldn't want to put any pressure on him."
