France fly-half extends his deal at Top 14 club until 2014

France fly-half Francois Trinh-Duc has committed his future to Montpellier after agreeing terms that will keep him at the Top 14 outfit until 2014. The 25-year-old playmaker has opted to exercise an option in his existing contract - which he signed at the beginning of the year - to extend it by another two seasons. Trinh-Duc waited to determine the future of coach Fabien Galthie before extending his deal - Galthie having been in the running to replace Marc Lievremont at the helm of the national team. In the end Galthie lost out to Philippe Saint Andre, although his loss was Montpellier's gain with both coach and now Trinh-Duc staying at the club. The fly-half - who has 35 caps for Les Bleus - was praised for his display in the World Cup final against New Zealand last month having come on early to replace the injured Morgan Parra. Trinh-Duc, who had been in talks with other clubs, has strong ties to Montpellier having come through the club's youth system before making his senior debut in February 2008.
