Irish full-back to make switch from Doncaster

Bristol have continued their rebuilding plans for next season with the signing of full-back David McIlwaine from Doncaster Knights. Bristol, who have their sights set on promotion after booking their place in the play-off semi-finals, have been impressed with the former Ireland Under-19s international this season. The 22-year-old scored 96 points since moving to the Knights from Ulster in the summer, although he underwent a shoulder operation in February. Bristol head coach Liam Middleton told the club's official site: "David is an exciting young player. I have been impressed with his performances this year and I believe he has great potential. "We're confident that this is the place for him to develop further. David's performances have attracted significant interest from other clubs, so I am pleased that he chose Bristol Rugby."
