Back-rower makes the switch from Leeds

Rotherham have raided Yorkshire rivals Leeds Carnegie to snap up powerhouse back-rower Alex Rieder. Rieder has spent the past three seasons at the Leeds academy, having previously learned his craft at North Ribblesdale. The 20-year-old, who has represented Yorkshire from Under-15s to Under-20s levels, certainly made an impression on the Titans with two tries against them on his Leeds debut in the 17-3 British and Irish Cup win back in September. His involvement at Carnegie, though, was largely limited to the tournament - and Rieder, who can play across the back row, is now looking to gain more first-team action at Clifton Lane. Rieder wrote on Twitter: "@titansrugbynews really excited at the opportunity to play at roth. Going to be a great season with v.exciting signings"
