Flatman agrees new Bath deal

Prop David Flatman is to sign a new three-year contract with Bath.

Bath prop David Flatman has become the latest star to agree a new contract with the Guinness Premiership club.

Andy Beattie and Olly Barkley recently put pen to paper on new deals at the Recreation Ground and Flatman is to follow suit after agreeing a three-year contract.

Flatman's new deal will see him through to the end of the 2008/09 season and he is looking forward to a bright future after overcoming a series of injury problems.

"Hopefully now the bad times are behind me. You cannot thrive on negative feelings, so you have to look to the future," said Flatman, who has been capped eight times by England.

"I am feeling very positive and I believe that I am now opening a new chapter in my rugby career."

Bath coach Brian Ashton added: "David has already played at international level, and I have no doubt that had he not sustained his Achilles tendon injury he would have already played on many more occasions for England."
