Dallaglio to end career at Wasps
Lawrence Dallaglio has signed a new two-year contract extension with Wasps.
England and Wasps veteran Lawrence Dallaglio has signalled his intent to finish his career with Wasps, after signing a new two-year deal with the club.
The former England captain has led Wasps through the most successful period of their existence - including three Premiership titles and a Heineken Cup triumph.
A tally of 285 appearances highlights his commitment to the London club, and he is now set to break the 300-barrier after securing a further two-year stay at the Causeway Stadium.
"I'm delighted to have resigned for the club, which means in effect that I'll finish my playing career where I started, at Wasps," Dallaglio told the club website.
"The last three years in particular have gone very well for everyone at the club, and over the next two years we will continue to drive the club forward with the aim of maintaining that level of success.
"This club has always been about offering players the possibility of playing the best rugby they can, maximising their potential and opportunities.
"Therefore, I'm very happy to be continuing my long and proud association with London Wasps."
Dallaglio's status as Wasps legend is already ensured, having produced countless monumental displays from his favoured number eight role.
Success on the domestic stage transmitted to the international arena in 2003, when he played a vital role in helping England to lift to World Cup in Australia.
Retirement from the England scene followed, but Dallaglio's form refused to fall away, convincing him to return to the set-up in a bid to defend the Webb Ellis trophy in France.
Wasps director of rugby Ian McGeechan, who worked with the authoritative back row forward when on tour with the British and Irish Lions, was quick to express his delight regarding Dallaglio's stay.
"Lawrence is one of the giants of the English and world game and we are, of course, delighted that he is remaining with us for a further 2 years," said McGeechan.
