Tuilagi exits Welford Road

The popular back-row forward Henry Tuilagi has parted company with Leicester.

Popular Samoan fails to agree new deal

The popular back-row forward Henry Tuilagi has left the Leicester Tigers despite being offered a new deal at Welford Road. Tuilagi has struggled for fitness ever since joining the club in 2003, making only 26 starts for the Tigers in the four years. The Samoan was a firm favourite with the Leicester faithful but he could not come to an agreement with the Tigers over a new contract.

Loss

Tigers acting head coach Richard Cockerill told the Leicester Mercury: "We offered Henry a contract, but he and his advisers couldn't agree it. "I'm sorry to see him go but he was injured a lot and that affects the value of a player. "It will be a loss to us because he was a great servant to this club who put his body and soul on the line. "But in the business we're in, that's life."
