Guinness Premiership side Bath have completed the signing of South Africa international fly-half Butch James, who has signed a two-year deal.
James made it to the Super 14 final with his club side Natal Sharks, but will now be heading to England and Bath's Recreation Ground after the World Cup in Setptember.
The 28-year-old is a key member of Springbok coach Jake White's plans for the World Cup, but is currently being rested from the Tri-Nations competition.
James says that he is looking forward to facing a new challenge when he travels to join Bath and play in the Guinness Premiership after the World Cup in France.
"I am looking forward to the challenge," said James. "I have heard so many good things about the club from the other South Africans that play and have played there.
"I am looking forward to experiencing life in a different country, and I am sure I will be very happy and intend on making the most of this opportunity.
Pride
"I have been fortunate to play for the Springboks, and always feel a great sense of pride to represent South Africa.
"I would like to thank the players, management and fans of Springbok and Sharks rugby who have played such a huge role in my life in the past nine years."
James played in both of South Africa's Test victories against England last month, and has been a key part of their Tri-Nations campaign before White decided to rest his best players for the trip to Australia and New Zealand.
Bath head coach Steve Meehan says that James will add more solidity both in attack and defence when he joins up with the club.
"Butch's skill-set, experience and physicality will no doubt provide the team with certainty and opportunity," said Meehan.
"We are sure he will contribute towards Bath being a more dangerous team in attack, and more solid defensively."
