Jones - Crucial for Wales

Ospreys coach Lyn Jones reckons his side's 19-8 victory at Harlequins is good news for the EDF Energy Cup.

Richards left frustrated

Ospreys coach Lyn Jones reckons his side's 19-8 victory at Harlequins is good news for the EDF Energy Cup. Had the Welsh side lost at the Stoop, all four semi-finalists would have been English. As it is, Ospreys will face Saracens at the Millennium Stadium on March 22, while Wasps will play Leicester. "It's important in a tournament like this that both countries are represented and it's important for us as a side," said Jones. "Representation from Wales is crucial for this tournament. "We did it last year at the Millennium when we won through to Twickenham. Losing 45-39 to Leicester meant we were disappointed not to come away with the win. But now we are in the mix for the silverware again."

Sin bin

Jones praised his side for holding out when they were reduced to 12 men towards the end of the first half after prop Paul James, full-back Lee Byrne and Gavin Henson were all despatched to the sin bin. "To come out of that period without conceding a point was a minor miracle. It galvanised the boys to fight for each other and the defence was sound again," he added.
Frustration
Harlequins director of rugby Dean Richards could not hide his frustration at the decision of referee Huw Watkins not to award his side a penalty try when Chris Robshaw was blatantly pulled back by Sonny Parker as he chased a loose ball over the Ospreys try-line. It was the latest in a series of recent controversial decisions to hit Quins and Richards said: "I never criticise referees so I shouldn't start now. But he should have given the penalty try. "We will monitor the video and if there are any comments to be made we will go through the official channels." Richards insisted his side are not disheartened after going five games since their last victory: "It's your performance you look at and at times we have turned in some fantastic performances. "It's about playing to your potential and your ability and we are getting there."
