Wasps captain praises his patched-up side

London Wasps captain Lawrence Dallaglio was delighted to see his patched-up side overcome title-chasing Bath 25-10 at Adams Park. Wasps had been left reeling as a number of their players were laid-low with the 'flu, while injuries also disrupted their preparations. However, despite having to play hooker Rob Webber in the back-row, the Heineken Cup champions were able to run in three tries as they dented Bath's charge up the table. And Dallaglio admitted: "I am very pleased. It has been a difficult week this week, with a lot of guys ill in bed and a lot of guys injured. "But we have managed to get a decent side out and have put in a very good performance." Wasps had stormed into a 20-0 half-time lead - however they struggled to build on that display after the interval. And Dallaglio knows his side need to sort out their second half form if they are to push on this season - especially after they almost slipped up in Europe against Clermont as well.

Important

He said: "We are going to have to stop winning these games by half-time as whatever we are having in out tea isn't working very well. "We seem to take our foot off the pedal in the second period. "But we will take the four points. I think that sees us climb up the table a couple of places and that is very important for us." Youngster Webber was only called into the starting XV on Saturday morning after initially been named as the replacement hooker. With Tom Rees going down ill, Webber stepped into the breach on the flank and was rewarded with a try. However, despite playing out of position, Webber was happy to play his part in the win. He said: "I am definitely a hooker bit obviously the coach has picked us for a bit of versatility in the back row. "A lot of boys have been sick this week, so I have had to fill in."
