Sale Sharks second-rower Christian Day has joined Stade Francais on a three-month deal.
The former England Under 21 captain has struggled to win a regular place at Edgeley Park this season.
Sean Cox, Dean Schofield and Chris Jones were all ahead of him in the pecking order so he has made the decision to move to France.
He played a part in bringing European Challenge Cup glory to the north west in 2005 and helped land the club the Guinness Premiership title in 2006.
Director of rugby Philippe Saint Andre said: "I would like to thank Christian for his time at Sale Sharks. We wish him well."
