Versatile back agrees 12-month deal at The Rec

Robbie Kydd is set to return to Bath after agreeing a 12-month deal at The Rec. The versatile back, who can play at fly-half, full-back and centre, played eight times during the 2003/4 season, scoring two tries. The former New Zealand Under-21 international went on to star for Northampton - including scoring the try which took the Saints to the 2006/7 Heineken Cup semi-finals. However Kydd will now head back to Bath to help provide cover at fly-half, with Butch James missing the start of the season and Ryan Davis out injured. Bath head coach Steve Meehan said: "I'm looking forward to Robbie's arrival. He is the sort of player whose attacking attitude and skills base suits what we are trying to achieve at Bath. "He provides us with cover at 10 and in other backline positions but I know he will set out to make a starting position his own." The 26-year-old Kydd admitted he was delighted to be re-joining the West Country side. He said: "I had a good time at Bath last time I was here and I am looking forward to the challenge ahead. "It is a fantastic club that is playing good rugby and is a place I want to be at."
