Glasgow boss turns attention to domestic competition after defeat
Glasgow Warriors head coach Sean Lineen heaped praise on his players after their narrow 22-16 defeat to European giants Toulouse at Firhill.
Two tries in the space of eight second half minutes effectively sealed Glasgow's fate as Lineen's men suffered their second defeat in the competition.
However, despite the obvious disappointment of losing by just six points, the Warriors boss was quick to praise the phenomenal work-rate put in by his players.
Speaking to
Sky Sports, Lineen said: "I thought the set-piece was great, the scrum was really solid and the boys gave it everything.
"You can just see the class Toulouse have got in attack when they cut loose.
"I'm really proud of the way the players stood up tonight, the defence was largely good, just a few soft tries but they can hold their heads up high.
Outstanding
"It's a few steps up from last week and we have just got to take that into the domestic competition now."
At 22-9 down Lineen made a host of changes in an attempt to find a route back into the match.
A late score from Lome Faatau brought the Warriors within a converted try of victory and the Glasgow boss hailed the impact the younger players had on the match when they entered the field.
"It's all about blooding the youngsters through," he said. "I thought Ruairdh Jackson and Pat Mcarthur were outstanding coming on against Toulouse. It's all about developing these players as well.
"I was really happy with how the boys played - Thom Evans was outstanding on the wing and Dan Parks controlled the play well and the forward pack with Alastair Kellock as captain were outstanding.
Speaking on his side's chances of qualification, Lineen said: "We'll never say never but we now have to concentrate on the domestic league."
