Quins stunned by London Irish comeback again
London Irish boss Toby Booth was delighted after his side pulled off another Twickenham Stoop escape act.
The Exiles overturned a 20-3 deficit to beat Harlequins in the Guinness Premiership a month ago and served up a repeat in Saturday's EDF Energy Cup meeting.
Booth's men scored 27 unanswered points to come from 17-5 behind and notch a 32-17 success, a result that keeps their semi-final hopes alive.
"I was having a little bit of deja vu to the last time I was here," said Booth.
"Irrespective of the strength of sides that are put out you go out there to win the game in a positive manner.
"Our aim was to win the game by scoring tries and we did that."
Lalanne impact
London Irish appeared a different team after Booth sent on new Argentinian scrum-half Alfredo Lalanne for the second half.
The Pumas international, who only arrived at the club on Tuesday, made an immediate impact with London Irish scoring three tries in seven minutes.
"Lalanne joined us this week and he made a big difference in relation to the speed we could keep on the game," added Booth.
"The speed up at the ball delivery was important and it swung the game in our favour."
Inexperience
Quins director of rugby Dean Richards felt inexperience cost his side, though he conceded they were not helped by the sin-binning of replacement hooker Ignacio Elosu.
"We found it very difficult to adapt to the referee's interpretation at scrum time so we could not work a platform there," said Richards.
"We lost the penalty count 16-9 in the end and it cost us dear.
"This was a good opportunity for some of our young players to show what they can do and we played some good rugby at times.
"We lost our discipline and we have to learn about that - but there are some huge positives to take out of the game."
