Experienced forward coming in to strengthen 'Tahs campaign

The Waratahs have signed former Reds and Force forward Luke Doherty until the end of the season. Having played for the Reds for three years, and the Force for two, as well as stints in Japan and Italy, Doherty brings a wealth of experience to the Waratahs side. Head coach Chris Hickey said the signing of Doherty further strengthens the pack for the 2009 campaign. "Luke has had a lot of experience for a 27-year-old and that's going to serve us really well throughout the campaign," said Hickey. "Depth in the squad is a factor for every team in the Super 14 and Luke certainly adds that to the forward pack. "We always said we'd only add to the playing roster if we could get the right man for the job, and I'm confident that even though we've had to wait until now, that we've got our man." Hickey indicated Doherty would not be considered for Friday's clash with the Chiefs at the Sydney Football Stadium, but would have a hit-out for the Junior Waratahs against the Australian Barbarians in the curtain raiser
