Premiership strugglers plan for the future with four new deals

Worcester Academy products Callum Black, Jonny Arr, Charlie Fellows and Jordan Page have all committed their futures to the club. Home-grown player Black, who has burst on to the first team scene in recent weeks and has made fifteen senior appearances in total, has penned a two-year deal to remain at Sixways Stadium. Scrum-half Arr, winger Fellows and hooker Page have also agreed one-year contracts. Twenty three-year-old Black, born in Maryland in the USA, is currently completing his fourth season at Worcester and has represented Ireland at Under 18, 19 and 21 levels.

Prospects

Director of rugby Mike Ruddock said: "Callum Black has recently made some excellent progress and has featured in the senior team in wins over Gloucester and Saracens. "He is the modern prop in every sense of the word and is very dedicated, skilful, mobile and professional. "Callum has been prepared to go out on loan to Otley and Plymouth this season in order to gain much needed experience at the coal-face. With his dedication I'm sure he has a big future at the Warriors." Twenty-year-old Arr made his first team debut last year against London Irish in the EDF Energy Cup in December. A product of the club's thriving mini/junior set-up, Arr also won international honours last season as he was in action for England at Under 20 level, successfully achieving the Grand Slam in the Six Nations. "Jonny Arr is a fine young player and like I have mentioned before he reminds me of a young Robert Jones and I believe it will not be too long before we see him more often in the first team. I'm delighted he is on board for next season," Ruddock continued.
Benefits
Fellows, 23, is the latest player to rise through the ranks all the way to the full-time Academy, having started his rugby in the mini/junior set-up and he made his full Guinness Premiership debut this season against Harlequins. Page has made two senior appearances for the team, meanwhile, and recently came off the bench in the Guinness Premiership away game at Quins in London. "Andrew Stanley and Gary Meechan continue to run a fantastic Academy programme at the club and these players coming through and signing deals show how we are benefitting," added Ruddock. "Jordan Page and Charlie Fellows are fine young players who have both earned themselves one-year contracts as they continue to develop from Academy stars into regular first team players. "They are both dedicated to the goal of senior rugby and we are looking to support them over the next twelve months."
