Former Australia Under 21 international on his way to Kingston Park

Newcastle Falcons have moved to strengthen their pack with the recruitment of Saracens hooker Alex Walker. The 25-year-old former Australia Under 21 international rose through the ranks at Falcons legend Matthew Burke's home club, Eastwood, in Sydney. Now English qualified, the 6ft tall 16 stone hooker made six first team appearances for the Vicarage Road side last season. Falcons director of rugby Steve Bates said: "Alex will add significant competition for places in the hooking position. "He comes to us highly recommended from our contacts in both Australia and England, and along with Rob Vickers and Matt Thompson, his arrival ensures that our hooking stocks are well catered for going in to the new season."
