The multi-purpose facility was the venue for the third-placed play-off between Wales and Australia in 1987.
Originally built in 1911, the Rotorua International Stadium is largely used for rugby - although football, softball matches and concerts have been held there in the past. The British and Irish Lions and the All Blacks have played at the ground, which has had several redevelopments over the years, while it was also the venue of the 1987 RWC Bronze Medal match. The Bay of Plenty share its ITM Cup games between Rotorua and Baypark Stadium in Tauranga, while the international rugby league side has taken advantage of the facilities.
