New Zealand reclaimed the Junior World Rugby Championship crown by beating England 21-16 in the final.

The Baby Blacks won the first four under-20 championships, including three wins in the final over England, but hadn't won since their last title in 2011, also on Italian soil.

They conceded the first try to two-time defending champions England, but once they led from just before half-time they held on, even while star No 8 Akira Ioane was in the sin-bin.

Ioane extended New Zealand's 11-10 interval lead to 18-10 soon after when he finished off multiple phases from an attacking lineout.

He was yellow-carded on a touch judge's report but England could add only two penalties while he was in the bin, and had a try disallowed for a man in front of the kicker, while New Zealand fly-half Otere Black kicked his third penalty of the match.

On returning, Ioane made a couple of important turnovers as the match went scoreless over the last quarter.

England made a roaring start when midfielder Max Clarke cut back at speed to slice through the New Zealand defense, and score near the posts after three minutes.

England went out to 10-3 before New Zealand's Vince Tavae-Aso, who had just replaced midfielder Tinoai Faiane, broke out of a triple tackle and beat the cover to the right corner flag.

Black's second penalty put the Baby Blacks in front, and they stayed there.
