The striker lasted just four minutes in Saturday's 4-2 defeat at Ipswich before limping off clutching his hamstring.
Manager Paul Heckingbottom could hand Angus MacDonald a debut after the defender, who arrived from Torquay last week, sat out a one-match suspension at Portman Road.
George Moncur could make his first start since joining from Colchester after coming off the bench on Saturday, while fellow newcomer Elliot Lee will be hoping to make his debut.
Northampton manager Rob Page will have a full squad at his disposal.
Lewin Nyatanga joined the Cobblers from Barnsley on a season-long loan deal on Monday and is unlikely to be allowed to play against his full-time employers.
Brendan Moloney and Raheem Hanley may play some part in the fixture after missing Saturday's draw against Fleetwood.
Jak McCourt remains a long-term absentee after he sustained a shoulder injury in pre-season.
