Blackpool v Luton preview: League Two play-off first leg live on Sky Sports

Blackpool v Luton Town

Forward Jamille Matt could be in contention for a return to Blackpool's squad for the League Two play-off semi-final first leg at home to Luton on Sunday, live on Sky Sports 2 HD from 6.15pm.

Matt has missed the last three matches with a hamstring injury and although he failed a late fitness test last weekend ahead of the visit of Leyton Orient, another week's recovery may help him.

Defender Will Aimson will hope to keep his place after being recalled as manager Gary Bowyer reverted to a back three last time out. Striker Kyle Vassell, Blackpool's leading scorer in the league, made his first start since mid-April last weekend and is likely to hang on to his place.

Luton full-back James Justin is a doubt ahead of their trip to Bloomfield Road. The Hatters young player of the year was stretchered off in the second half of their 3-1 win over Morecambe last week after suffering a blow to his ankle and will be assessed.

Alan Sheehan should return after missing that game with a knock to his ankle sustained in training. If Sheehan is not fit enough to make the starting line-up, Luke Gambin will deputise at left-back. Winger Danny Green returned to training this week after being sidelined for much of the season with a broken leg but is not fit to feature.

In fact, Luton haven won each of their last six against the Tangerines in all competitions, since a 3-1 defeat to them in February 2003.

Blackpool have lost just one of their last 14 matches at Bloomfield Road in all competitions (W5 D8).

Highlights of Blackpool's 3-1 win over Leyton Orient from Sky Bet League Two

Blackpool have been promoted in four of their previous six Football League playoff campaigns (twice from fourth tier, once from third, once from second).

The Hatters' only previous playoff experience came in the third tier in 1996/97, losing the semi-final to Crewe Alexandra.

Prutton's prediction

As we saw in the League One play-offs, all these play-off first legs are bound to be closely-fought encounters, then will open up in the second-leg. I can see that happening in this clash against two well-matched teams.

Highlights of Luton's 3-1 win over Morecambe from Sky Bet League Two

Luton have attempted to play their way out of League Two and they're just two ties away from achieving it. They need to be commended on their recruitment - Nathan Jones has built a team full of talented footballers, including Danny Hylton and Isaac Vassell, who have been in great form in front of goal of late.

Gary Bowyer has done a magnificent job to draw attention away from Blackpool's off-field issues. How scary is it to think that this time six years ago they were battling for survival in the Premier League. It's great to see them moving in the right direction again.

PRUTTON PREDICTS: 1-1 (Sky Bet odds: 6/1)
