    Brentford v Bournemouth preview

    Image: Bennett: To have surgery

Team news ahead of Tuesday's Johnstone's Paint Trophy clash between Brentford and Bournemouth at Griffin Park.

Brentford have problems in defence for the southern section quarter-final with the Cherries. Recent loan signing Dale Bennett has had to go back to Watford after suffering a knee injury in training which is likely to require an operation. Bennett was brought in as defensive cover with centre-halves Karleigh Osborne and Leon Legge on the sidelines. Osborne is still out with a foot injury, and although Legge is back in training following a torn hamstring he is a couple of weeks away from returning to action. Striker Gary Alexander found himself helping out in defence towards the end of Saturday's 0-0 draw at Sheffield Wednesday. Midfielder Harry Forrester looks set to miss out again with a hamstring problem. Bournemouth will be without the cup-tied Wesley Thomas for trip. The forward played for Crawley in the first round of the competition against Southend and is therefore ineligible for manager Lee Bradbury, who may call on either Michael Symes or Charlie Sheringham to fill in up front. New signing Simon Francis, who arrived from Charlton on an initial loan deal on Friday, is available and could make his Cherries debut, but midfielder Steven Gregory is out for at least two weeks with a groin problem. Midfielder Mark Molesley is available for selection after a hamstring injury, but Shaun MacDonald remains sidelined with the toe injury which has kept him out of action for more than seven weeks.
