Brentford v Huddersfield preview
Saturday 11 March 2017 12:35, UK
Brentford head coach Dean Smith must decide whether to change a winning side. The Bees beat Nottingham Forest 3-2 away in midweek, with Denmark forward Lasse Vibe netting twice.
Captain Harlee Dean returned to the side following a two-match ban and took the place of Andreas Bjelland in defence.
German forward Philipp Hofmann (back), midfielder Josh McEachran (ankle) and Alan Judge (broken leg) all continue their rehabilitation.
Huddersfield goalkeeper Danny Ward is hoping to shake off a thigh injury in time to return to contention. Joel Coleman made a rare league start in goal for Town in the midweek home win against Aston Villa and will continue if Ward fails to make it.
Winger Sean Scannell continues to make progress towards his first appearance since November following ankle surgery, but on-loan Chelsea midfielder Kasey Palmer (hamstring) is out until April. Midfielder Philip Billing and striker Nahki Wells are pushing for recalls after dropping to the bench against Villa.
Opta stats
There have been 40 goals (21 for Brentford, 19 for Huddersfield) in the last eight league meetings between these sides at an average of five per game.
The Terriers have conceded four goals in each of their last two trips to Griffin Park, losing 4-2 last season and 4-1 in 2014/15.
The Bees have scored in each of their last 11 Championship games, netting 25 in total (2.3 per game).
Huddersfield have lost just one of their last eight away league games, winning five (D2).
Brentford have made just 51 changes to their starting lineups in the Championship this season - the fewest in the division.
Huddersfield have faced fewer total shots (333) and fewer shots on target (111) than any other Championship side this season.
Prutton's prediction
Huddersfield continue to impress in the way they can pull out results. They beat Villa in the week and dominated large parts of the game against Newcastle last weekend, but in the most important areas they just came up short.
You can't absolutely rule them out from catching the top two because nothing is certain in the Championship. It's been a monumental job that David Wagner has done along with the players and if you gave them play-offs now they would be buzzing. But it would be an amazing achievement if they managed to squeeze into the automatic places.
It's been a good season for Brentford. They have had players leave the club and they have managed to work with those departures. They also have a relatively young squad.
David Prutton predicts: 1-2 (17/2 with Sky Bet)
