Highlights of the Sky Bet League Championship between Bristol City and Huddersfield

Jonathan Kodjia took his goal tally for the season to 20 with a brace as Bristol City thrashed Huddersfield Town 4-0 in their final home Sky Bet Championship game of the season.

Joe Bryan and the impressive Lee Tomlin also got on the scoresheet as Lee Johnson's team celebrated safety from relegation with an emphatic display, despite being without several first choice players.

Kodjia shot the hosts in front on 44 minutes. Scott Golbourne's pass was flicked on first time by Bryan on the left and the striker was able to advance unchallenged into the Huddersfield box before drilling an angled shot past Jed Steer.

It was 2-0 on 64 minutes when Bryan won the ball on the edge of the Huddersfield box and moved forward to hold off a challenge from Mark Hudson and drill home a left-footed drive.

Huddersfield then caved in as Kodjia strode forward to send a sweet right-footed strike past Steer from 25 yards before Tomlin came up with an even better finish.

The loanee from Bournemouth collected a Golbourne cut-back on the edge of the area and took one touch with his right foot to beat his man before rifling an unstoppable left-footed shot into the roof of the net.

City might have had more goals as Bobby Reid volleyed against the crossbar after a Kodjia shot had been saved by Steer and several other chances went begging.

At the other end goalkeeper Richard O'Donnell had to make only one testing save, diving to his left to keep out an effort from substitute Jamie Paterson on 81 minutes.

Huddersfield had enjoyed the better of the early exchanges and got in the first accurate goal attempt on 14 minutes when Nahki Wells shot straight at O'Donnell from 10 yards.

Emyr Huws was only just wide with a 25th minute effort from distance and it took a much-changed City side time to get into the game.

By the half hour the home side were threatening and Kodjia's shot across goal was deflected for a corner.

Tomlin was behind City's best attacks and he grazed a post shortly before Kodjia's goal following a good move involving Luke Ayling and Reid.

By the time the half-time whistle came City had overcome their early frailties and were looking the more threatening side.

That was proved when Bryan netted the second goal and confirmed with Kodjia's second goal and Tomlin's effort which proved to be the pick of the bunch as the home side strolled to a convincing victory.

In the end it was a comfortable afternoon for the home side, who produced some slick, penetrating football in the second half to confirm their improvement since Johnson took charge as head coach in January.
