Club captain Bailey Wright could return after injury for Bristol City's Carabao Cup appointment with Plymouth on Tuesday.

Wright is on the comeback trail from a thigh injury, and he looks set to feature as City look for a successful start in a competition that saw them reach the semi-finals last season.

Manager Lee Johnson could also opt to give Chelsea loan signing Jay Dasilva an opportunity after he missed out on Saturday's draw against Bolton. And with Johnson set to make changes, striker Matty Taylor will be among those he could turn to for the Ashton Gate encounter.

    Bolton 2-2 Bristol City

The clubs met at the same stage of last season's competition, with City running out 5-0 winners on that occasion. Plymouth manager Derek Adams made nine changes for the game a year ago, but widespread switches are not expected this time.

Adams is keeping selection options close to his chest, although the game looks set to be too soon for midfielder Antoni Sarcevic. Sarcevic was set to resume full training on Monday after not being involved during pre-season or Plymouth's first two league fixtures because of a groin problem.

    Plymouth 1-1 Southend

Bristol City have progressed to the second round of the League Cup in each of the last two seasons, this after just winning once in the previous six campaigns (between 2010-11 and 2015-16).

Plymouth have only won one of their last 10 League Cup first round ties (D1 L8), being eliminated in each of the last five seasons.

Plymouth have only ever reached the second round on three occasions in the past 25 seasons (2005-06, 2007-08 and 2012-13).
