Gareth Bale and Cristiano Ronaldo will miss Real Madrid's visit to Deportivo La Coruna on Wednesday, live on Sky Sports.

Real will be without Bale for a large chunk of the title run-in after he suffered a calf injury in the 3-2 defeat to Barcelona on Sunday.

Bale's injury is likely to see him sidelined for a month, while Ronaldo has been rested by Zinedine Zidane for the third La Liga away game in a row.

Zidane's side face a busy few weeks in both La Liga and Europe, with Bale also set to be out for the two Champions League semi-final clashes against Atletico Madrid.

Real face Valencia and Sevilla at home before the season finishes, as well as trips to Granada, Celta Vigo and Malaga.

Zidane, meanwhile, has defended himself against criticism that Bale was rushed back into the starting line-up too soon, having only recently returned to training following another muscle injury.

"There are other annoying niggles and this is what is happening to him now. It is minor and we expect him to come back swiftly."

They will also be without Sergio Ramos due to suspension after the captain was sent off against Barca for a two-footed lunge on Lionel Messi.

The 32-time La Liga champions have been boosted, however, by the return of France defender Raphael Varane from a hamstring problem.

Real are level on points with Barcelona but with a game in hand with six matches remaining of the La Liga season, and Zidane called on his players to process their anger at the Clasico defeat positively by bouncing back with three points.

"When you lose you have to accept the criticism. Sometimes it is criticism that generates more desire and anger."

Deportivo are 16th in La Liga, but eight points clear of the drop zone with five games remaining.
