Craig Forsyth is a fresh injury absentee for Derby ahead of their EFL Cup tie against Carlisle.

The left-back has ruptured the anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee and is set for another lengthy absence, having only made his first appearance for 10 months in the previous round against Grimsby after recovering from another serious knee injury.

Rams boss Nigel Pearson, who began his managerial career at Carlisle and famously kept the club in the Football League in 1999 courtesy of a stoppage-time goal from goalkeeper Jimmy Glass, is expected to make some changes to his starting line-up.

Fit-again winger Abdoul Camara could start while the likes of Chris Baird, Alex Pearce, Bradley Johnson, Nick Blackman and Darren Bent are also options for Pearson.

Carlisle manager Keith Curle will assess the fitness of Jason Kennedy and Reggie Lambe before finalising his squad.

Midfield pair Kennedy and Lambe were both forced out of Saturday's 2-2 draw at Cambridge due to knocks.

Curle, whose side lost at Liverpool on penalties in the third round of the competition last season, has no other new injury or suspension worries but is expected to make changes.
