Girona continued their push for European football with a 2-0 win over struggling Deportivo La Coruna on Friday night.
Goals from Cristhian Stuani and Juanpe earned Girona a third straight win that moves them up to sixth place in La Liga before the rest of the weekend's action.
Stuani opened the scoring in the 21st minute, poking home from close range after Deportivo goalkeeper Ruben failed to hold Bernardo Espinosa's header following Alex Granell's free-kick.
And it was another Granell set-piece that led to the second goal just before the hour mark as he whipped the ball in from the right wing for Juanpe to flick on, his header going in at the far post.
Adrian Lopez and Pedro Mosquera had chances to get the visitors back into the match but they could not avoid a defeat which leaves them mired in the relegation zone.
