Juventus vs AC Milan
Coppa Italia Final
8:00pm Wednesday 9th May
JUVENTUS WIN THE COPPA ITALIA!
JUVENTUS 4-0 AC MILAN
FT: Juventus are Coppa Italia champions - again! Four years on the spin and Milan simply could not live with them for a spell in the second half. Three goals in eight minutes settled the matter but a fourth was added with 15 minutes to go. Juventus are simply peerless in Italian football.
90: Into the final minute of the 90 and Milan are still doing their best to try and claw one back. The Juventus defence, as ever it seems, is holding firm.
86: Rodriguez tries his luck from distance but given Milan's luck as a whole tonight it is no surprise to see the left-back's effort fly well wide. Juventus make their final change, Marchisio replacing Pjanic.
84: There have been a number of substitutions in amongst all these Juventus goals. Borini and Montolivo have joined Kalinic in coming on for Milan while Juventus have brought on Higuain and Bernarderschi.
WATCH: DONNARUMMA ERROR LEADS TO THIRD
WATCH: DOUGLAS COSTA DOUBLES JUVE LEAD
80: Dybala tries his luck from halfway! Donnarumma is off his line and the Juventus forward goes for it. The ball sails over the bar and - believe it or not - the Argentine may feel he could have done better given the goalkeeper's position.
78: DOUBLE SAVE! Buffon is twice forced into action, firstly to deny Calhanoglu, who struck the ball fiercely from the edge of the box and he was then up quickly to push the follow up wide.
GOAL! JUVENTUS 4-0 AC MILAN (Kalinic og 76)Another corner, another Juventus goal. The ball is whipped in to the near post and brushes off the head of Nikola Kalinic to beat Donnarumma. Juve are cruising.
JUVENTUS 3-0 AC MILAN
72: OFF THE POST! Matuidi is relieved after nearly giving Milan a glimmer of hope. Kalinic, who came on in the aftermath of Juventus' second goal, puts in a good cross and Matuidi's slices his clearance against the post. Nearly a lifeline for Milan.
WATCH: BENATIA HEADS THE OPENER
68: Milan are doing their best to try and work their way back into this one but that is leaving plenty of space for Juventus on the counter. This could get very ugly for Milan if they're not careful.
GOAL! JUVENTUS 3-0 AC MILAN (Benatia 64)Oh no, you have to feel for Donnarumma. It is another big mistake from the teenager. He should just catch the ball as it loops up off Mandzukic's shoulder but he spills it and Benatia is on hand to smash in the loose ball.
GOAL! JUVENTUS 2-0 AC MILAN (Costa 61)He has made some good saves in this match but that is a howler from Gianluigi Donnarumma. Douglas Costa hits his shot well from the edge of the box but it should be a routine save for the young 'keeper. Instead the ball bounces off his chest and into the corner of the net.
JUVENTUS 1-0 AC MILAN
59: Juventus are turning on the style now and Dybala dances past two Milan challenges before forcing a smart stop from Donnarumma.
GOAL! JUVENTUS 1-0 MILAN (Benatia 56)Juventus lead and it is a wonderful header from Mehdi Benatia! Pjanic swung the corner in from the right and the centre-back found himself free, eight yards out and guidedthe ball into the far corner. No chance for Donnarumma, who had made a superb stop to deny Dybala to give Juev the corner from which they scored.
JUVENTUS 0-0 AC MILAN
54: Bonaventura wins the ball and looks to drive forward through the middle but Blaise Matuidi does superbly to get back and recover the ball for Juve.
52: GOOD EFFORT! Dybala curls one from the right side of the box and Donnarumma has to get down smartly, low to his right to keep it out. Milan are adamant he was offside as the ball was played to him but the replays show the assistant referee got it right.
50: Milan have begun this second half much the better of the two sides and they threaten again after a sloppy touch from Cuadrado gives them possession on the edge of the Juventus box. Bonaventura skips past his man on the left, gets to the byline and fires a low cross in. It just evades the red and black shirts in the middle though and Juve survive. Positive for Milan though.
47: Another shot at goal but another comfortable enough save for Buffon. Calhanoglu lets fly from 25 yards and gets the ball to bounce just in front of the veteran keeper but he watches it closely and holds on.
46: A bright start to the second period from Milan, Calabria gets forward down the right and whips in a cross. Bonaventura gets his head on it but it isn't a clean contact and is straight at Buffon.
46: Milan gets things underway in the second half...
ALMOST TIME FOR THE RESTART
Hakan Calhanoglu was dangerous for AC Milan in the first half. Can he help them to shock Juventus in Rome? The second half is just a few moments away.
HT: The referee is surrounded by the Milan players who wanted a free-kick for a foul on Calhanoglu in a good position down the right. Instead the referee blew for half-time with a few second of the added minute still remaining. Odd.
45: One additional minute to be played at the Stadio Olimpico.
43: Into the closing stages of the first half and Milan will be happy enough with how things have gone, they've had the better come closest although arguably the best chance fell to Mandzukic. The Juventus striker couldn't convert his header from 10 yards though and it remains all square.
WATCH: SUSO GOES CLOSE
Former Liverpool midfielder Suso forces a smart save from Buffon during the first half.
39: Bonaventura finds the space to shoot and hits it nicely, the ball just whistling over the top with Buffon concerned for a moment.
WATCH: BUFFON DENIES CUTRONE
Buffon was called into action early on to deny Cutrone.
36: CHANCE! Juventus' best chance of the match as Cuadrado sends in a superb cross from the right, curling it around Rodriguez and just over Romagnoli but Mandzukic wasn't expecting it to reach him and his header from no more than 10 yards out lacks any sort of power and is straight at Donnarumma.
33: Good footwork from Dybala gets him into the box but he is off balance and his shot is straight at Donnarumma, via a deflection off Romagnoli.
34: Moments later, Juventus come forward again and after a couple of stepovers, Cuadrado fires over the bar.
30: Another decent effort from Milan, Suso this time and Buffon is again called into action. The former Liverpool wide man cut inside onto his left foot and tried to deceive the veteran goalkeeper by reversing the shot towards the near post from 20 yards. BUffon was equal to it though and pushes it around the post.
31: The resulting corner from Suso is headed back to him and he puts in another good cross on his right that requires some good Juventus defending at the far post. The header only reaches the edge of the box though and Bonaventura's left-foot snap shot is wide.
28: Wasted opportunities for both sides and they each have their right-backs to blame. First, Milan look to break after winning possession in the centre circle, only for Calabria's touch to gift the ball back to Juve. They, in turn, break at pace and the ball is shifted to Cuadrado on the corner of the box but he too has a loose touch and Milan escape with a goal kick.
24: Milan have a decent spell of possession and Calhanoglu surges forward again. He has looked Milan's most dangerous player thus far and he wants a free-kick after going down after a clash with Khedira. Nothing doing, says the referee.
25: Gattuso's side win the back ball and move it to the other flank where Suso gets to the byline and puts in a good cross, Benatia is there to clear it though.
22: Dyabala has the ball on the right side of the penalty area, checks onto his left foot and whips in a good cross that might well have been creeping into the far corner but Donnarumma was alert and punches it clear.
20: Dybala shows good strength in the middle of the pitch to hold off Kessie and then spreads the ball out to Cuadrado. The former Chelsea man's cross is wayward though, goal kick.
18: Juventus have had more of the ball and have looked threatening on occasion but the best chance has fallen to Milan, that Cutrone shot still the best either side has been able to muster thus far.
15: Juventus on the front foot again and ball comes to Dybala, who takes the shot first time from the edge of the box. He doesn't get hold of it at all well though and it trickles behind for a Milan goal kick.
14: Costa's cross is slightly overhit but Mandzukic does well to get on the end of it and nod the ball towards the edge of the area where Barzagli comes bursting onto it but sees his shot blocked.
12: Milan are happy to retreat back into their own half as soon as they lose the ball, meaning the Juventus defenders can pass the ball among themselves with ease. They get the ball out to the right and after the deep cross comes off Romagnoli's head, Calabria does well to prevent a corner.
9: Juventus quickly get themselves into Milan territory and win a corner. Pjanic clips it out to the edge of the box where Douglas Costa is waiting but he scuffs his volley into the ground and the ball bobbles wide.
8: CHANCE! Very nicely worked down the left by Milan as Calhanoglu powers forward, exchanges passes with Cutrone to get into the box and then cuts the ball back into the striker's path. He strikes the shot well enough but it is too close to Buffon, who pushes it away.
7: Milan win a free-kick 15 yards inside the Juventus half as Suso is fouled. It is taken short though and Milan are eventually forced back before Juve regain possession.
5: It has been a slightly nervy start for Milan but the Rossoneri fans are given something to cheer as Calhanoglu crunches into a tackle to dispossess Cuadrado.
3: That is a very presentable opportunity for Sami Khedira, the ball is fed into him in the inside left position, inside the box, but he seems slightly surprised to receive the ball and his extremely tame effort is comfortably saved by Donnarumma.
2: After a very scrappy opening minute, it is Juventus who first get the ball down and strong a couple of passes together. Juan Cuadrado bursts forward from right back but his low cross is cut out.
1: Juventus kick-off and we're away in the Coppa Italia final...
Leonardo Bonucci is up against his old club tonight, of course. However, the Milan captain will put those firendships to one side for the next 90 minutes or so.
HERE COME THE TEAMS
The teams are out, roared onto the field. Now time for the national anthem.
