Stoke will rest Xherdan Shaqiri against Luton and he will not travel for the Capital One Cup second-round tie, live on Sky Sports.
Record signing Shaqiri made his debut for the Potters against Norwich on Saturday but the winger is still feeling the effects of playing the full 90 minutes in searing temperatures at Carrow Road.
However, Bojan Krkic is expected to make his first-team return after recovering from a knee injury while fellow forward Jonathan Walters is also back in contention after illness ruled him out at the weekend.
Olly Lee could be added to the Luton squad for the visit of Premier League Stoke in the Capital One Cup.
The former West Ham midfielder signed for Town last week after a successful trial spell.
Another former Upton Park youngster, Dan Potts, is still out with a knock so Scott Griffiths continues in defence despite boss John Still admitting he has been below par so far this season.
Midfielder Nathan Doyle has a leg injury and will be assessed while Still could make changes following Saturday's 3-2 defeat by Yeovil, their second straight loss.
