Both sides look to boost play-off hopes

Mid-table Morecambe and Port Vale prepare to face-off with just one place separating the two sides. Both sides know that victory will push them further towards a play-off spot in League Two in a game with plenty to play for. A victory for Vale would see them leapfrog Morecambe, moving a point ahead of the North West side. But competition for the final play-off spot is fierce, with nine sides possibly battling it out for the opportunity to gain promotion to League One. Shrimps boss Sammy McIlroy will be without defender Laurence Wilson, who begins a two-game suspension after picking up his 10th booking of the season in Tuesday's goalless draw at Bury. Midfielder Stuart Drummond is also doubtful after straining his back in a training session on Monday.

    Vale team news

Port Vale captain Tommy Fraser also begins a two-game ban after receiving his 10th yellow card of the season so will miss the trip to Christie Park. Vale boss Micky Adams will welcome back Anthony Griffith from suspension and is expected to stick with Joe Anyon in goal after dropping 19-year-old Chris Martin, as they look to bounce back from their 2-0 defeat at home to Barnet last Saturday.
