Newport v Northampton preview

On-loan Aston Villa defender Janoi Donacien is in contention to start Newport's clash with Northampton after agreeing to stay at Rodney Parade until the end of December.

The 21-year-old, an ever-present since his arrival in September, was scheduled to return to the Premier League side after his initial one-month loan expired during the week.

Tyler Blackwood, though, has returned to parent club QPR while goalkeeper Rhys Taylor, who has made one appearance for County this season, will also be unavailable after joining Wrexham on loan until January.

Andrew Hughes (knee) and Nathan Ralph (hamstring) are nearing a return to fitness but are likely to miss out, with Hughes absent from first-team action since last December.

Northampton boss Chris Wilder will be without Shaun Brisley, after he damaged his medial knee ligament in the 2-1 win over Stevenage last weekend.

Fellow defender Ryan Cresswell may ease Wilder's concerns at the back after returning to training, but the form of Zander Diamond and Rob McDonald could keep him out the side.

The cash-strapped Cobblers have won four of their five league games in October, and Wilder has encouraged them to finish the month in style.

"It's been an excellent month for us in terms of points and performances and we really can put the icing on the cake if we go and get a result there," Wilder told the club's website.
