Alex Pritchard has signed a new four-year contract with Tottenham, keeping him at White Hart Lane until 2019.

Sky Sports reported back in May that Spurs had opened talks over a new deal for the 22-year-old attacking-midfielder after he impressed on a season-long loan at Brentford last season.

Pritchard was told he would be a fully-integrated member of Mauricio Pochettino's squad for the first time and the player is set to follow in the footsteps of Harry Kane, Nabil Bentaleb and others in making the breakthrough from Spurs' academy.

Pritchard's 12 goals and seven assists helped Brentford reach the Championship play-offs while his eye-catching performances earned him a place in the PFA Championship Team of the Year.

And he was included in Gareth Southgate's England U21 squad for the European Championships in the Czech Republic this summer, but suffered an ankle injury from which he is still recovering.

Pritchard has featured in Spurs' first-team before, making his Premier League debut for Spurs in a 3-0 win against Aston Villa at White Hart Lane in May 2014.

That came off the back of a successful season-long loan spell at Swindon where he was nominated for the Football League Young Player of the Year and Sky Bet League One Player of the Year awards.
