Manuel Pellegrini says Vincent Kompany is fit again after missing the last two matches with a calf injury.

Manchester City captain Vincent Kompany is fit for Saturday's game at Tottenham, Manuel Pellegrini has confirmed.

Kompany missed the home defeat to West Ham after injuring his calf against Juventus, and he was one of nine players missing for the midweek League Cup win at Sunderland.

Six of those players - including David Silva - remain out, but City's key defender is available along with Samir Nasri and Pablo Zabaleta.

"It's important for the team to have Vincent back," Pellegrini said at his pre-match press conference.

"He's just recovering, he's the captain and he played well at the start of the season. Not just defending but he scored three goals, also."

City go to London without the influential Silva [calf] and five others - Eliaquim Mangala, Gael Clichy, Wilfried Bony, Kelechi Iheanacho and Fabian Delph.

And Pellegrini said: "I'm not 100 per cent sure [when Mangala and Silva will be back], it depends on how they improve.

"Maybe David can be fit for next league game, we'll see next week. For Mangala, it will be difficult for him to be fit before the international break."

There was better news on Sergio Aguero, who scored at Sunderland for the first time in six games and has been troubled by a knee injury this season.

"I think that against Sunderland he was practically 100 per cent fit," Pellegrini said. "He was an important player - he was involved in the goals, he scored and he had other chances.

"Maybe after his injury, especially against West Ham he wasn't 100 per cent, but now I believe he is."

Asked about Saturday's opponents, he said: "Every game is different, we are just believing that if we don't play well we won't win.

"I don't analyse Spurs' start - they have good players, a very young team - so I think that Mauricio Pochettino is doing very good work there and we'll see how they do at the end of the season."
