Manuel Pellegrini says he's disappointed Vincent Kompany played for Belgium in their European Qualifier earlier this week.

Manuel Pellegrini has confirmed Sergio Aguero has been ruled out of action for four weeks.

The Manchester City striker, who has scored six goals this season, suffered a hamstring injury while playing for Argentina against Ecuador in a World Cup qualifier last week.

Speaking at his pre-match news conference ahead of Saturday's home game against Bournemouth, City coach Pellegrini said: "Sergio has a muscle injury, an important injury. I don't think he will be back before one month."

And Pellegrini must also do without David Silva - who injured his ankle after just 10 minutes of Spain's Euro 2016 qualifier against Luxembourg - and Aleksandar Kolarov who limped out of Serbia's defeat to Portugal.

"Silva has a kick in his ankle - he's also out," added Pellegrini. "Kolarov also has a hamstring injury. We'll see how they improve in the next week. I hope both of them can be back in 15 days."

Pellegrini revealed his disappointment that Belgium played Vincent Kompany against Israel in midweek despite the City skipper not being fully fit following a calf injury.

"If a player withdraws from a national team squad, he cannot play for his club team in the next game. Vincent didn't play in our last three games - it's not my duty to do it but some day clubs will protest that, as it should be the same thing the other way.

"It's no problem with Vincent. It was just important for him to work a whole week before playing a game - he couldn't do it because he played with Belgium.

"The national squad have all the rights to do what they want. We can just make a suggestion with a medical report. They decided after a week he can play - maybe it's better to make a call but they didn't and he played."
