Opta’s Premier League statistics: The best of the weekend

It was another busy day of Premier League action as Jurgen Klopp took charge of his first game as Liverpool manager.

But who scored from the spot for the third consecutive game and how many first-half hat-tricks have we had in the Premier League after Raheem Sterling's heroics?

Here we pick out the best stats from Saturday's games with the help of Opta…

Tottenham 0-0 Liverpool

Tottenham are on the longest current unbeaten run in the Premier League (eight games), since defeat at Manchester United on the opening day (W3 D5).

Gerard Houllier is still the only Liverpool manager to win his first Premier League game in charge at the club (2-1 v Southampton in 1998, he was joint-manager with Roy Evans at the time).

Jurgen Klopp's first game in charge of Liverpool ended in stalemate.

Liverpool have only won one of their last 10 Premier League away games (W1 D5 L4).

Spurs have failed to score in four of their last five Premier League games against Liverpool.

This is the fourth clean sheet that Spurs have kept in their last six Premier League home matches.

Liverpool (116km) became the first team to run further than Spurs (114.8km) in a Premier League game this season.

Chelsea 2-0 Aston Villa

Jose Mourinho has still never lost successive home league games as a manager.

Before this game, the two outfield players on the longest current run of starts in the Premier League were Branislav Ivanovic (63 starts) and Eden Hazard (47 starts). They were both left out of the starting XI in this match.

Chelsea returned to winning ways as they beat Aston Villa 2-0 at Stamford Bridge.

Willian has had a hand in a goal in each of his last three Premier League appearances (two goals, one assist) - this after not scoring or assisting in his previous 13 Premier League games for Chelsea.

Three of the nine own goals in the Premier League this season have been in favour of Chelsea.

Villa have not kept a Premier League clean sheet at Stamford Bridge since March 1998, conceding 32 times in their last nine at the West London venue.

Chelsea have scored in their last 24 home league matches; also the longest current run of its kind in the Premier League.

Crystal Palace 1-3 West Ham United

Carl Jenkinson has two goals in seven Premier League appearances this season, compared to one in 69 Premier League appearances before this campaign.

Yohan Cabaye has scored a penalty in three successive Premier League appearances.

West Ham moved up into the Champions League places with a 3-1 win over 10-man Crystal Palace.

The Frenchman has scored with all four of his Premier League penalties in total.

Cabaye became only the fourth player in Premier League history to score a penalty in four successive appearances (Ian Wright 1994, Ruud van Nistelrooy 2003, Michael Owen 2003).

West Ham have scored 12 goals in five away Premier League games this term, netting at least twice in all five of them.

Dimitri Payet has had a hand in 15 goals (six goals, nine assists) in his last 17 league appearances (Premier League & Ligue 1 combined).

The last three Premier League meetings between these sides have all ended in 3-1 away wins.

The Hammers have gone five away Premier League games unbeaten for the first time since January 2009 (seven games).

Everton's Gareth Barry started his 550th Premier League game against Manchester United - only David James (571) has started more.

Ander Herrera has scored eight goals from 10 shots on target in the Premier League.

Everton conceded two first-half goals in a Premier League home game for the first time since August 2014 (3-6 vs Chelsea).

Manchester United ended a run of defeats at Everton in an impressive 3-0 win.

Morgan Schneiderlin netted his first Manchester United goal and his first goal since April 2015 against Stoke.

The Toffees have conceded 12 goals in their last seven games (with no clean sheets) at Goodison Park after keeping six clean sheets in their seven games previous to their current run.

First time since April 2012 two defenders have assisted for Manchester United in a Premier League match (Chris Smalling and Marcos Rojo today).

Wayne Rooney netted his first away Premier League goal since November 2014 (17 games), ending a run of 1,550 minutes without a goal. It was his first Premier League goal at Goodison Park since April 2007.

Rooney's goal pulled him level with Andrew Cole on 187 goals in Premier League history, second only to Alan Shearer (260).

The Citizens have won five and drawn two of their previous seven meetings with Bournemouth.

Man City have scored 5+ goals in consecutive Premier League games for the first time since April 2010.

Eddie Howe's side have scored in 13 of their last 14 away league matches.

Raheem Sterling hit a first-half hat-trick as Manchester City remained top of the Premier League.

Kevin De Bruyne has scored four and assisted four in his last six games in all competitions for Man City.

Glenn Murray has scored nine Premier League goals in 22 appearances in 2015, compared to one goal in 16 Premier League appearances before this year.

Wilfried Bony has scored or assisted five goals in his last four Premier League starts for Man City (three goals, two assists).

Indeed, Bony had scored and assisted in the same Premier League game for just the second time in his career (Swansea v Sunderland in May 2014).

All four of Raheem Sterling's goals in the Premier League this season have come against newly-promoted sides.

Raheem Sterling netted his first ever senior hat-trick. Sterling is only the 11th player to score a Premier League hat-trick whilst aged under 21.

It was the 24th first-half Premier League hat-trick and only the second for Man City (Carlos Tevez v West Brom in February 2011).

Southampton 2-2 Leicester City

Saints have only lost one of their last 19 top-flight home games against Leicester (W10 D8).

Leicester are unbeaten in eight top-flight away games for the first time since 1973 (nine matches).

The Foxes have won more points from losing positions than any other top-flight side this season (seven).

Jamie Vardy's second-half double rescued Leicester's unbeaten Premier League away record.

Leicester have scored and conceded in all nine of their league games this season.

Jamie Vardy has scored 10 goals in his last 10 Premier League appearances, including in each of his last six matches in the competition.

Vardy is just the fourth Englishman to score in six consecutive Premier League appearances this century: (Michael Owen (six in 2003), James Beattie (six in 2003) & Daniel Sturridge (eight in 2014).

Jose Fonte netted his first Premier League goal in 58 appearances.

Virgil van Dijk has found the net in two of his three Premier League appearances at St Mary's.

Indeed, it's only the fifth time (and first since Boxing Day 2014) that Southampton have seen two defenders score for them in the same Premier League game.

West Brom are the only Premier League side yet to score in the opening half hour of a game this season.

Sunderland have failed to score in five of their last seven trips to the Hawthorns.

Saido Berahino has netted three goals in his last two games against Sunderland at the Hawthorns.

Premier League strugglers Sunderland began life under Sam Allardyce with a 1-0 defeat at West Brom.

Thirteen of Berahino's 17 goals since the start of last season have come at the Hawthorns (76%).

Since August 2014, Berahino has scored 23 goals in all competitions, 16 more than any other West Brom player.

Sunderland have lost six of their last seven away Premier League meetings with West Brom.

This is only the third time in the Black Cats top-flight history they've gone nine games without a win from the start of the season (also 1969/70 and 1976/77).

This is the first time Sam Allardyce has failed to win his first Premier League game as manager of a club (after Bolton, Newcastle, Blackburn and West Ham).

Watford 0-3 Arsenal

Watford have never won a Premier League game in the month of October (D4 L6).

The Gunners have won their last six meetings with the Hornets in all competitions, including all five previous Premier League clashes.

Three goals in an 11-minute second-half spell handed Arsenal a 3-0 win over Watford.

Watford conceded as many goals in this game (three) as they had in their previous six top-flight matches at Vicarage Road combined.

Aaron Ramsey scored his first goal of the season in the Premier League, after failing to net with his previous 26 (inc. blocked) in 2015-16.

Watford striker Troy Deeney has now had the most shots without scoring in the Premier League this season (23 shots inc. blocked).

Twelve of Aaron Ramsey's last 17 Premier League goals have come away from home (71%).

Alexis Sanchez has scored in six successive games for club and country; netting 10 goals in the process.

Since the start of last season only Sergio Aguero (11) has scored the first goal in a Premier League game more often than Alexis Sanchez (10)

Almen Abdi made his 100th appearance for Watford in this match.
