Jamie Redknapp believes Loic Remy was 'too honest' after hurdling a challenge in the penalty area by Stoke goalkeeper Jack Butland which could have resulte

With just five minutes remaining at Stoke, Chelsea and Loic Remy thought they had grounds for a penalty as the striker saw a good chance go to waste after he was forced to hurdle the on-rushing Jack Butland, but was he too honest?

Chelsea, who were without Jose Mourinho due to his stadium ban, were trailing 1-0 at Stoke and had Remy gone down he could have won a penalty which could have drawn his side level.

However, he stayed on his feet and the chance went begging and Sky Sports pundit Jamie Redknapp believes the Frenchman could have done more to draw the foul from Butland.

"I think he's too honest," Redknapp said on Saturday Night Football.

"I think it could have been [a penalty]. There are lot of referees that will say it could have been taken back because there's no advantage. He's had to hurdle him and that's a very difficult skill to do.

"You can see he can't quite find his feet but I just think he's guilty of being too honest. If he'd have just dragged his foot like we see so often in football now as players draw the foul it would have been a penalty."
