Ruud van Nistelrooy has wished Jamie Vardy well as the Leicester striker chases his Premier League goalscoring record.

Vardy will match the former Manchester United man's mark of scoring in 10 straight Premier League games if he is on target on his next appearance, likely to be at Newcastle on Saturday.

Van Nistelrooy's 10th game was also at St James' Park, a 2-1 United win in August 2003, and the now-retired Dutchman is aware his record is under threat.
