Martin Tyler has thanked football supporters after being named Commentator of the Year at Monday's Football Supporters' Federation awards.

Sky Sports celebrated victories for Jamie Carragher and Martin Tyler at Monday's Football Supporters' Federation awards ceremony.

Carragher beat off competition from former Monday Night Football colleague Gary Neville to win the Pundit of the Year award, while Tyler was named Commentator of the Year.

As well as the MNF pair, former players Pat Nevin, Danny Murphy, Paul Scholes and Ian Wright were also nominated in the punditry category.

Former Liverpool defender Carragher was busy working on Everton's game against Crystal Palace, but said via video link: "I'm very pleased to have got the award and hopefully people at home are happy with what we do on Sky Sports with all the different shows.

"We try to analyse games as deeply as possible and hopefully the viewers enjoy it - it looks like they are at the moment, so thank you."

"All of us at Sky recognise the part played by you, the supporters, as without you there is no televised football and no commentary. Bless you for all you do for the game and thank you for recognising my contribution to it in this way."

Earlier on Monday, Arsenal's Alexis Sanchez had been confirmed as the winner of the FSF player of the year award.

"Arsenal have enjoyed a good start to the season and it was disappointing to pick up this injury. But I'm hoping to be back soon to help my team mates have another successful year."
